Serving the future... Photography by Rebecca Meissner of Love Made Visible South Africa is the one country in the world that has the widest disparity between rich and poor. The Constantiaberg area in Cape Town, is an area where this disparity is acute. Some of the most expensive real estate in the country is a ten minute drive away from some of the poorest schools, servicing learners who live in abject poverty. The LifeMatters Foundation (LMF) was established to serve the youth of the greater Constantiaberg area. LMF works from the premise that a child cannot learn if they have not been properly nourished, have been traumatised, cannot read or have no number concept. To meet these basic needs at a school going level, we provide the following five services to holistically address the developmental needs of learners:
By addressing and supporting these needs, we want to clear the way for learners to overcome obstacles more easily, thereby promoting excellence in education by freeing up learners to achieve their full potential at a school going level.
